Frustrated at my mother's old Singer sewing machine, I searched online for cheaper-but-still-dependable machines.
I found one at the Lazada online store. It wasn't the price that caught me off-guard. It was the 4-5 star rating that customers left as feedback for the same product that I wanted to buy. It had a Php2500 price tag, but I had second-thoughts about it having an unknown brand so I didn't buy it.
October2014 came and while I was browsing the online shop, I saw that the OMI sewing machine was being offered at a discounted price. For half its original price, I just had to buy it.
I'm so glad I did.
It was easy to set up and so portable that you can work on any flat surface around the house. You can use it while connected to an electrical outlet or use its battery option. Inside its box, you'll find a little plastic bag of accessories (needles, small thread spool, etc). A manual was included and it was useful for the initial set-up and a few troubleshooting solutions.
I've only had just 1 problem since I've started using it. The bobbin case moved too much during one of my sewing projects that the needle can no longer move downward to catch the lower thread. It took a while before I figured out how to position it back again, as it didn't have any screws to guide me. It was smooth-sailing (or sewing) from then on but I had to be more conscious about avoiding some hard pulls of the cloth or thread.
I've taught my sister and mother how to use my OMI sewing machine for their small projects, and so far they've had no complaints. As for me, I'm completely satisfied. However, it would have been completely awesome if I could replace the presser foot with specialized ones (for zipper or buttons, or Babylocks).
The OMI sewing machine I bought at Lazada was at a discounted price of Php1299 last October2014. Shipping was free, so it was truly a great buy.
Hi, i know this post is already old but I hope you'd notice this. I have the same sewing machine and I'm plan to sew a zippered purse,my problem now is I dont know how to replace the normal presser foot to zipper foot. Have you tried doing so?
ReplyDeleteHi! I have the same machine & also the same problem with the bobbin case. Unlike you I can'r figure out how to fix it properly. Would you be kind enough to take a picture of it so I may fix it properly. Thank you!
